Faculty Affiliates

The Peter A. Allard School of Law hosts a vibrant community of feminist legal scholars who research diverse topics across a wide breadth of the law. Their research explores issues centred on race, sexual orientation, class, and disability. Many faculty members are also involved in research related to litigation, law reform, judicial education, media and public education, as well as academic publication.

Remembering Marlee G. Kline

CFLS Marlee Kline

The faculty lost a great feminist scholar and colleague when Marlee G. Kline passed away in November 2001. Her work is remembered by the Centre for Feminist Legal Studies through its annual Marlee G. Kline Essay Prize and the annual Marlee Kline Lecture in Social Justice.

A collection of her books is now housed in the Centre's library and are available to be borrowed.

    Honorary Professor
    The Honourable Lynn Smith, OC KC

    The Honourable Lynn Smith, OC, KC, practiced law with Shrum, Liddle and Hebenton (now McCarthy Tetrault), taught law at the UBC Faculty of Law (1981-98) and served as its Dean of Law (1991-97).  Her areas of research were Evidence, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and Human Rights.

    Jocelyn Stacey

    Associate Professor

    Jocelyn Stacey is Associate Professor at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia. She researches environmental crises and the visible and invisible ways in which law creates, regulates and prevents these events.

    Régine Tremblay

    Associate Professor

    Régine Tremblay joined Allard Law in 2017. Her areas of expertise include family law, matrimonial property law, private law, comparative law, family mediation, reproduction and law, and critical theories, including feminism and queer theories. She holds a BCL and an LLB from the Faculty of Law at McGill University and an LLM and an SJD from the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto.

    Margot Young

    Professor

    Margot Young is Professor in the Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. After studying at the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto, and the University of California, Berkeley, Professor Young began her teaching career at the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria.  In 2002, she moved to the University of British Columbia.
