  • Michelle LeBaron

    Professor of Law

    Professor Michelle LeBaron is an internationally recognized interdisciplinary scholar on conflict transformation, arts, and resilience. Her current research is on two main areas: conflict across religious and worldview differences, and the role of arts in collective memory and commemoration processes and reconciliation. As a recipient of a Wallenberg Fellowship at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Studies (2015-2018), Michelle collaborated with internationally-renowned visual artist Dr.

  • Tamara Levy, K.C.

    Director, UBC Innocence Project

    Tamara Levy, KC is the co-founder and Director of the UBC Innocence Project at the Allard School of Law where she has taught as an Adjunct Professor and Lecturer since 2004.  She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law school in 1996, articled with the Ontario Ministry of Attorney General and then Peck and Tammen (now Peck and Co.) in Vancouver. She was called to the British Columbia bar in 1998. She has practised as both defence and crown counsel.

  • Carol Liao

    Associate Professor and UBC Sauder Distinguished Fellow
    Chair, Canada Climate Law Initiative and Co-Director, UBC Centre for Climate Justice

    Dr. Carol Liao is an internationally respected expert in corporate law and sustainability, climate governance, and social justice. She is the UBC Sauder Distinguished Fellow of the Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics, Chair of the Canada Climate Law Initiative, and Co-Director of the UBC Centre for Climate Justice. She teaches Business Organizations, Contracts, and seminars in corporate law. She has been recognized as a BIV Influential Women in Business, BCBusiness Woman of the Year, and been named as one of Canada's Clean50, Top 100 Most Powerful Women, and Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers.

  • Liwen Lin

    Associate Professor

    Professor Liwen Lin is an Associate Professor at the Allard School of Law. Her research and teaching interests include comparative corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, state capitalism, Chinese law, and law and economic sociology.

  • Mary Liston

    Associate Professor

    Mary Liston is an Associate Professor at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia. She teaches public law including administrative and constitutional law, legal theory, and law and literature. Her research focuses on public law broadly and administrative law in particular. It also lies at the intersection of constitutional law, legal theory, and democratic theory.

  • Bruce MacDougall

    Professor

    Bruce MacDougall was called to the Bar of B.C. in 1990. 

    Professor MacDougall joined the Allard School of Law as Assistant Professor in 1988. He was Associate Professor from 1996-2002. He has been Professor of Law since 2002.

    Professor MacDougall studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and served as Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada for Mr. Justice Gerald Le Dain from 1986-87. He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Florida, Gainesville in 1993, and Distinguished Research Fellow at King's College, London, in 2001.

  • Johnny Mack

    Associate Professor
    Co-Academic Director, Indigenous Legal Studies

    Professor Johnny Mack is from the Toquaht Nation (Nuu-chah-nulth) and is an Associate Professor at UBC Allard School of Law. From 2014-2018 he was jointly appointed across First Nations and Indigenous Studies and Allard Law at UBC. His research investigates the legal relationship between Indigenous and settler peoples in contemporary settler states, particularly Canada, as well as Indigenous constitutionalism, subjectivity, critical theory, and legal pluralism.

  • Lisa Martz

    Lecturer

    Lisa is an experienced litigation lawyer who has practised in Vancouver for more than 25 years. She has acted as counsel on behalf of the Province of B.C., companies both large and small, and many individuals.

  • Shigenori Matsui

    Professor

    Professor Shigenori Matsui joined the Allard School of Law in January 2006 as Director of Japanese Legal Studies. Professor Matsui comes to UBC from Osaka University Law School where he worked as associate professor from April 1983 to March 1994; and as full professor from April 1994 to December 2005.  He worked for Osaka University, Faculty of Law, until he joined the newly established law school in 2004.

  • Karin Mickelson

    Associate Professor

    Karin Mickelson joined the Faculty as Assistant Professor in 1991 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1998. She has taught in the areas of international law, international environmental law, real property, environmental law and legal theory, and has supervised and co-supervised graduate students in a wide range of areas including international environmental law, international legal theory and international human rights. She has also served as the faculty advisor to UBC teams participating in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
