  • Liora Lazarus

    Professor

    Liora is a leading scholar at the interface between security, the rule of law, and fundamental rights. She came to the Peter A. Allard School of Law as Professor in Law in August 2020 after a long career at the University of Oxford. Her most recent post in Oxford was Head of Research at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights. She remains a Supernumerary Fellow of St. Anne’s College, Oxford, and was recognized as Professor in Human Rights Law at Oxford in October 2020. Liora teaches Transnational Law, International Human Rights Law and Security, Criminal Justice and Human Rights.

  • Michelle LeBaron

    Professor of Law

    Professor Michelle LeBaron is an internationally recognized interdisciplinary scholar on conflict transformation, arts, and resilience. Her current research is on two main areas: conflict across religious and worldview differences, and the role of arts in collective memory and commemoration processes and reconciliation. As a recipient of a Wallenberg Fellowship at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Studies (2015-2018), Michelle collaborated with internationally-renowned visual artist Dr.

  • Tamara Levy, K.C.

    Director, UBC Innocence Project

    Tamara Levy, KC is the co-founder and Director of the UBC Innocence Project at the Allard School of Law where she has taught as an Adjunct Professor and Lecturer since 2004.  She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law school in 1996, articled with the Ontario Ministry of Attorney General and then Peck and Tammen (now Peck and Co.) in Vancouver. She was called to the British Columbia bar in 1998. She has practised as both defence and crown counsel.

  • Sarah Lewis

    Knowledge Communications Coordinator
    Housing Research Collaborative

    Sarah received her BA Honours in International Relations and Romance Studies from UBC and her MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics. Before joining UBC, Sarah worked in international development, focusing on supporting the implementation of rule of law and good governance donor-funded projects for USAID, U.S. Department of State, and the European Union Delegation. Sarah now coordinates communications for the Housing Research Collaborative at the Allard School of Law.

  • Carol Liao

    Associate Professor & UBC Sauder Distinguished Fellow
    Chair, Canada Climate Law Initiative

    Professor Carol Liao researches in the areas of corporate law and sustainability, climate governance and social justice. She is the Chair of the Canada Climate Law Initiative, recipient of the Influential Women in Business Award, BCBusiness Women of the Year Award, Canada's Clean50 Award, and named as one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women. She teaches Business Organizations, Contract Law and seminars in corporate law.

  • Mary Liston

    Associate Professor

    Mary Liston is an Associate Professor at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia. She teaches public law including administrative and constitutional law, legal theory, and law and literature. Her research focuses on public law broadly and administrative law in particular. It also lies at the intersection of constitutional law, legal theory, and democratic theory.

  • Marilyn MacCrimmon

    Professor Emerita

    Marilyn MacCrimmon was appointed to the Allard School of Law as Assistant Professor in 1976, promoted to Associate Professor in 1981 and Professor in 1990. She was a Fellow in Law and Economics at the University of Chicago from 1981-82 and was Director of the Graduate Program in Law at UBC from 1983-91. In March-April, 1992, she was a Research Fellow at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Study and Conference Centre. Professor MacCrimmon taught Evidence, Topics in Procedure and Evidence and Fact Investigation.

  • Bruce MacDougall

    Professor

    Bruce MacDougall was called to the Bar of B.C. in 1990. Professor MacDougall joined the Allard School of Law as Assistant Professor in 1988. He was Associate Professor from 1996-2002. He has been Professor of Law since 2002. Professor MacDougall studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and served as Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada for Mr. Justice Gerald Le Dain from 1986-87. He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Florida, Gainesville in 1993, and Distinguished Research Fellow at King's College, London, in 2001.
