    Senior Manager, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

    Mio is the Senior Manager of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion at the Allard School of Law. She supports the Faculty in capacity building to embed EDI principles throughout the Faculty by working with leaders of units, administrative units, centres, staff and students as well as through facilitating and developing educational and training programming.

  • Vivian Tran

    Director, Admissions & Recruitment

    Vivian earned her BA in International Relations and Political Science from UBC and a Masters in International Affairs from Carleton University. She began her career with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Ottawa and Vancouver, then moved to Knowledge Translation at the Vancouver School of Economics. Prior to joining Allard, she worked for a decade at the UBC Sauder School of Business in domestic and international recruitment and admissions.

  • Régine Tremblay

    Associate Professor

    Régine Tremblay joined Allard Law in 2017. Her areas of expertise include family law, matrimonial property law, private law, comparative law, family mediation, reproduction and law, and critical theories, including feminism and queer theories. She holds a BCL and an LLB from the Faculty of Law at McGill University and an LLM and an SJD from the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto.

  • Sonia li Trottier

    Director, Canada Climate Law Initiative

    Sonia li Trottier is the Director of the Canada Climate Law Initiative (CCLI), a leading national organization that provides businesses and regulators with climate governance guidance so they can make informed decisions towards a net-zero economy. She leads the strategic planning, programs, operations, partnerships, funding, and budget.

  • Zack Uganec

    Manager, Student Affairs

    Zack Uganec is the Manager, Student Affairs at the Allard School of Law. Zack looks forward to helping students reach their potential. Zack advises students on experiential learning opportunities, exchange offerings, and joint legal education programs. Zack is also the main point of contact for incoming GoGlobal students. 

    Zack holds a BA from the University of British Columbia, and a JD from the University of Victoria.

  • Anne Uteck

    Associate Professor
    Associate Dean, Academic Affairs

    Professor Uteck practiced law in Nova Scotia before before deciding to pursue an academic career beginning at the SMU Sobey School of Business. She completed her doctorate on reconceptualizing spatial privacy for the Internet of Everything during which time she was the recipient of several awards, including the Gowlings Fellow in Technology Law, as well as winning several international peer reviewed competitions.

  • Joseph Weiler

    Professor (Emeritus)

    Joseph Weiler is Professor at the Allard School of Law, UBC in Vancouver.  He earned his BA with Honors at the University of Toronto in 1969, his LLB at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University in 1972 and his LLM at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1974.  He joined the law school at UBC in 1974, first as Assistant Professor and then was promoted to Associate Professor and became a Full Professor in 1987.

  • Stephen Wexler

    Associate Professor Emeritus

    Before he joined the Allard School of Law in 1970, Steve Wexler was staff counsel at the National Welfare Rights Organization in Washington, D.C. His major academic interest is legal philosophy, particularly the work of Aristotle. Professor Wexler's own philosophical work is extremely eclectic. He has written about practicing law for poor people, the relationship of law and morals, the extent to which law is a rational activity and the centrality of burden of proof to legal thought.
