Sonia li Trottier is the Director of the Canada Climate Law Initiative (CCLI), a leading national organization that provides businesses and regulators with climate governance guidance so they can make informed decisions towards a net-zero economy. She leads the strategic planning, programs, operations, partnerships, funding, and budget. She works closely with C-level executives, corporate directors, pension fiduciaries, policymakers, and regulators to advance their understanding of the board’s legal duties with respect to climate change, best practices in climate governance, and sustainable finance. Previously serving as the Communications Manager, Sonia li led CCLI’s communications strategy, activities, and messaging, and created the Knowledge Hub for corporate directors and pension fiduciaries. Prior to joining CCLI, she worked in communications and community engagement for a fintech holding company and a digital asset exchange based in Thailand. She also worked for the Global Green Growth Institute in Jordan and Greenpeace Southeast Asia in Thailand.

In 2023, Sonia li completed the Governance Leadership Program of the Jeunes administrateurs de l'Institut sur la gouvernance (IGOPP) and in 2022, she was part of Concertation Montréal’s Young Women Leader cohort. She is also the Board Chair of JIA Foundation, a non-profit that fosters Montréal Chinatown’s cultural heritage through education, space activation and community-driven approaches to real estate. 

She holds a BA in International Relations and International Law at the Université du Québec à Montréal and an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development at the Université de Montréal.
