Become a Client

The Business Law Clinic seeks to assist British Columbians who:

  • Require legal advice regarding non-contentious small business or non-profit matters in British Columbia;
  • Have limited means of paying for legal advice; and
  • Can visit the Allard School of Law in person or meet via video conferencing for an appointment.

You can apply to the Business Law Clinic at any time however, applications will be reviewed in January and September each year. Select applicants will be invited to an intake interview which will take place at the end of January or September. Following the intake interview, applicants will be informed whether they have been selected to be a client of the Clinic. Applicants become clients once they and the Clinic Adjunct Professors sign an engagement letter.

The Clinic is accepting applications for intake. However, those submitting an application during the academic year may be waitlisted depending on Clinic availability. If you have any questions, contact us.

Due to the nature of the Clinic being offered on a term basis as part of an academic year (September to December & January to April), the Clinic is not appropriate for matters that require a fast turnaround time or are otherwise time-sensitive, or take place over prolonged periods of time. The Clinic is operated by active law students under the supervision of the Clinic Adjunct Professors; who are licensed lawyers in British Columbia. As such, clients must be comfortable that deliverables are produced over the course of an academic term on timelines that are subject to the rigours of the students' ongoing education.
