Are you hoping to publish your graduate research or supervised research paper? Are you interested in learning more about law review journals? Please join us on Tuesday, March 26 at 12:30pm in person or online for a panel discussion chaired by PhD student Lindsay Massara, on the subject of publishing law articles, with guests: 

Assistant Professor Hassan Ahmad is an Assistant Professor at the Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. He writes and researches on topics related to corporate governance and accountability, climate change litigation, the separation of powers, transnational torts, the interaction of domestic jurisdiction and liability principles with international law, business and human rights law, and the emerging field of law and political economy.

Professor Hoi Kong is the inaugural holder of The Rt. Hon. Beverley McLachlin, P.C., UBC Professorship in Constitutional Law, which he assumed in 2018. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin’s Program on Constitutional Studies and a Peter Wall Scholar (2020-2021). He researches and teaches in the areas of constitutional, administrative, municipal and comparative law, and constitutional and public law theory. 

Professor Margot Young teaches in the areas of constitutional and social justice law. Professor Young’s research interests focus on equality law and theory, women’s economic equality, urban theory, and local housing politics and rights. She is also working on the intersections between environmental justice, social justice, feminism, and human rights. Professor Young was co-editor of the collection Poverty: Rights, Social Citizenship and Legal Activism and was Co-Principal Investigator of the Housing Justice Project (HousingJustice.ca). She is a research associate with Green College, the Peter Wall Institute of Advanced Studies, and the Centre for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice at UBC. 

Pedram Gholipour is Administrative Editor-in-Chief of the UBC Law Review (2023-2024).

Speakers

Margot Young

Margot Young is Professor in the Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. After studying at the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto, and the University of California, Berkeley, Professor Young began her teaching career at the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria.  In 2002, she moved to the University of British Columbia.

Professor Young teaches in the areas of constitutional and social justice law.  She was the Director of the Social Justice Specialization at the law school and has organized the Law and Society Speakers Series for close to a decade.  Professor Young served three terms as Chair of the university-wide Faculty Association Status of Women Committee.  She is a research associate with Green College, the Peter Wall Institute of Advanced Studies, and the Centre for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice at UBC.

Hassan Ahmad

Hassan Ahmad is an Assistant Professor at the Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. At Allard Law, Professor Ahmad teaches Torts and Administrative Law and previously coached the Jessup International Law Moot. He is also an affiliated scholar at Green College, UBC and with the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.

Hoi Kong

Hoi Kong is the inaugural holder of The Rt. Hon. Prior to joining the Allard School of Law, Professor Kong was an Assistant and then Associate Professor at McGill University’s Faculty of Law, where he served a term as Associate Dean (Academic).   He was previously an Assistant Professor of Law, cross-appointed with the School of Urban Planning at Queen’s University, and an Associate-in-Law at the Columbia Law School.  Professor Kong clerked for Justice L’Heureux-Dubé and Justice Deschamps at the Supreme Court of Canada.
