Andre Aradei is a second-year JD student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law and one of the Operations Officers at the Centre for Business Law. Andre graduated with High Distinction from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He then spent his 1L year at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where he volunteered as a researcher at the law school’s Investor Protection Clinic before transferring to Allard this year. In his free time, Andre enjoys playing tennis and skiing.

Why did you choose Allard for law school?

Having grown up in Vancouver, the city always felt like home for me. Attending UBC as an undergraduate student was a great experience, and after completing 1L in Toronto, I knew that Vancouver was the ideal place for me to build my career. Transferring to Allard was the best way to make that happen. Allard’s excellent reputation in Vancouver’s legal community stood out to me, and its incredibly wide range of clubs, events, and other activities also made me eager to attend for the uniquely well-rounded environment it offers.

What do you enjoy most about working for the Centre for Business Law?

Helping coordinate many of the Centre for Business Law’s events this year has given me the chance to meet so many exceptional people at the school and in Vancouver’s legal industry. The Centre frequently invites law professors to showcase their research and lawyers to speak about their practices. I always look forward to these events as a chance to learn about the law while also getting to know many industry leaders.  I have even had the chance to meet some of my future colleagues as I look ahead towards this coming summer. Having only started to gain exposure to Vancouver’s legal community this year, I find the opportunity to learn from these lawyers and professors particularly valuable.

What advice do you have for other students?

My advice to new law students would be to make law school a well-rounded experience. Law school can often be a stressful time, especially at first, but be sure to take advantage of the entire range of activities that Allard has to offer by joining clubs, attending events, and setting aside time for hobbies. Finding a sense of community through those activities and events goes a long way at making law school exciting and memorable.
