Profile

Dr. Lingli Zheng is a Professor at the School of Law, Nanjing Normal University of China. Her research interests focus on the field of International Economic Law with a particular focus on the intersection of International Trade Law and International Environment Law. Dr. Zheng is a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Law & the Environment from February 2025 to February 2026. She was previously a Visiting Scholar at UBC from December 2011 to December 2012, and a Researcher at the Institute for International Research at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese and American Studies in Nanjing, China from September 2010 to January 2011. She has published extensively in top journals in her field. As well, she has published several books, including Environment and Trade -- An Interpretation of the Environmental Chapter of the CPTPP and Research on Legal Countermeasures. Furthermore, Dr. Zheng has also led several research projects on the environment and trade, including “Research on CPTPP Environmental Dispute Settlement Mechanism” (2023-2026), “Analysis on TPP Environment Chapter & Countermeasures of China” (2016-2021), and “Policy Hackathon on Model Provisions for Trade in Times of Crisis and Pandemic in Regional and Other Trade Agreements” (2020) by UNESCAP. Dr. Zheng is visiting the Allard School of Law from February, 2025 to February, 2026 as part of the Visiting Scholars Program. While at Allard, Dr. Zheng is conducting research on environmental cooperation and dispute settlement mechanisms between Canada and China within and beyond the CPTPP.
