Aara Johnson

Aara received her BA in Political Science from DePaul University (Chicago, IL) and her Master of Public Policy from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. She has over 10 years’ experience in a research and policy capacity, such as a Program Director at the Minnesota Education Equity Partnership, making recommendations to improve education policy for English Learners and diversifying the educator workforce. As a Senior Education Policy Advisor at the Office of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, she led efforts to transform the education system during the COVID-19 pandemic and negotiate with the only split legislature in the country. 

Upon relocating to Vancouver in 2022, she was part of UBC Hiring solutions for six months as a Business Manager for Virtual Physician Services (811) at the Department of Digital Emergency Medicine. Most recently, she was a Senior Policy Analyst at the Law Society of British Columbia, supporting various committees and task forces as well as providing research and recommendations to the Executive Director/CEO.
