Dear Allard School of Law Community,
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Mr. Peter A. Allard, QC (BA’68, LLB ’71) on June 11, 2022. Mr. Allard was a generous philanthropist and esteemed alumnus whose pursuit of advancing legal education and justice helped transform UBC. We join President Santa J. Ono in sharing our sincere condolences with Peter’s family.
Mr. Allard’s historic donation to support the Peter A. Allard School of Law, Allard Hall, and other worthwhile initiatives brought unprecedented benefits to the faculty. His vision enriched the Peter A. Allard School of Law’s worldwide reputation for student engagement, academic excellence and leading research.
In his own words, “My hope is that the law school will become a beacon for justice, and the promotion of human rights and the Rule of Law, around the world.”
Mr. Allard’s contributions transformed his alma mater and his generosity will continue to drive the generation of ideas and knowledge essential to the pursuit of justice. The law school is grateful for Mr. Allard’s outstanding philanthropy and his lasting legacy.
