Vancouver serves as the world’s mining capital, the prime gateway to China, and operates as a hotbed for both international and national M&A activity. As such, the Center for Business Law at the Allard School of Law was honored to bring together industry experts from across the country to discuss current issues and trends unfolding within the Canadian M&A landscape. The event took place at the Four Seasons in February this year and was attended by over 100 people, including students, practitioners and academics.
Hot topics included shareholder activism, take-over bids, cross-border deals, and private equity development against the uncertain global backdrop. Distinguished presenters included Jack Yong (JD, 2003), Partner, Lawson Lundell LLP, Walied Soliman, Partner, Global Chair and Chair of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP, Andrew McLeod, Partner, Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, and Nazma Lee, Senior Legal Counsel, BC Securities Commission.
A special thanks to Dr. Carol Liao, UBC Sauder Distinguished Scholar and Assistant Professor at the Allard School of Law, for moderating and facilitating this fantastic event.
