Drop by to ask questions about Dr. See’s work, the talk on Monday, or about her experience working with the Red Cross or in the not-for-profit sector more generally. Dr. Erica See, Senior Legal Counsel, Canadian Red Cross in Ottawa, will be giving a talk in the Lew Forum on Monday, February 6, on counterterrorism and sanctions regimes and their impact on humanitarian action in Afghanistan. That discussion will also look at recent calls by humanitarian actors for amendments to Canada’s Criminal Code. The event will be moderated by Dr. Sophie Rondeau, Director and Legal Advisor, IHL education at the Canadian Red Cross. You can learn more about Monday’s event here.
Speaker:
Dr. Erica See is Senior Legal Counsel with the Canadian Red Cross Society. Her work including as Director of a new CRC research center on law, managing the Legal Team’s Student Program, and providing advice and legal support to the CRC on domestic and international legal frameworks. Erica holds an LL.D and an LLM with Specialization in Women’s Studies from the University of Ottawa, where her research focused on adjudication of credibility in gender-related refugee claims. Erica also holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) and practiced as a lawyer for an elder rights organization before immigrating to Canada in 2006. Erica lives in Ottawa, Ontario with her husband, her two children, and a menagerie of pets.
