The Allard School of Law, in partnership with the UBC Debate Society, is pleased to present the Guile Debate!
The emphasis of this debate is on the effective use of humor in the advocacy of one’s position.
ROBERT H. GUILE, QC
The late Robert Guile was not only an outstanding barrister, but possessed of a marvelous sense of humor and superb flair for the written word. He earned his BA (1955) and LLB (1956) at UBC. In 1998, friends and colleagues of Robert Guile established an endowment as a lasting recognition of his skill, wit and unflagging sense of humor. The endowment provides prizes to student participants who display the greatest wit and humor. We are grateful to the many donors and other supporters of the law school who contributed to this endowment.
Cash prizes:
Winning team: $150 to each individual
Runners-up: $75 to each individual
