Reflections on Connecting Canada’s Climate Policy Network

A new book, Reflections on Connecting Canada’s Climate Policy Network, will be published open-access by the Canada Climate Law Initiative on June 29, 2023.

This webinar will explore the book’s key messages and discuss how to improve climate policy coordination, blurring public and private divides, and revealing where responsibility for change must rest.

According to the Supreme Court of Canada, in 2021, the nation was “failing to meet” the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets required to mitigate the “grave threat to humanity’s future” posed by climate change due to its lack of climate policy coordination at the subnational level. The severity of climate-related risks and impacts means there is urgent need for much greater cooperation between governments at all levels in Canada, and between Canadian and foreign governments, to implement policy solutions.

The webinar will feature the book’s co-editor, Fenner Stewart, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Calgary. He will be joined by Benjamin Dachis, Associate Vice President, Public Affairs for the C.D. Howe Institute, Nancy Olewiler, Professor, School of Public Policy, Simon Fraser University and Andrew Showalter, Coordinator, Indigenous Initiatives and Reconciliation, University of Calgary Law.
