Event Description
Join us for the launch of an exciting new advocacy campaign led by law students from across BC!
In 2022 and 2023, members of the Law Society of BC (LSBC) voted down a proposed climate resolution that would have committed the legal profession to acknowledging and addressing its role in the climate crisis. Many in the legal community — especially students — were frustrated and disheartened by this outcome. The legal profession holds immense power to shape a more just, sustainable future, and we believe it’s time to use that power for meaningful climate action.
This year, the UBC Environmental Law Group (ELG) are launching a renewed effort to see the LSBC Climate Resolution passed at the 2026 AGM. The goal is to build a province-wide network of supportive lawyers and law students, mobilizing them to act for climate justice within the profession.
We’re inviting law students from TRU, UVIC, and UBC to join us for a launch webinar to:
* Introduce the campaign and its goals
* Explain the significance of the LSBC climate resolution
* Share how law students can get involved in building the network and shaping the strategy
* Offer practical next steps for volunteering and advocacy
Whether you’re passionate about environmental law, professional ethics, or systemic change, this is your chance to get involved in a movement to make the legal profession part of the climate solution.
