WEEK 2: Dealing with adversity and building resilience and wellbeing
Focus and concentration are essential to learning and eventually to providing effective legal services. Lawyers and law students have many more stressors than most people and this can affect cognitive functioning.
The benefits of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Meditation include improved physical, emotional and mental well-being; improved concentration, clarity and focus. Learn about MBSR through neuroscience theory and experiential techniques.
These classes are presented by and facilitated by Susan Burak, J.D., M.A., R.C.C., an Associate Director of the Lawyers Assistance Program of B.C., who has been a practising lawyer for over twenty years and has extensive training in MBSR Techniques. Susan is also a Registered Clinical Counsellor and an Associate Director of the Lawyers Assistance Program.
This event is available in person and virtual through live stream. Email Anna Kline, Student Wellbeing Counsellor kline@allard.ubc.ca to register and receive the Zoom link.
