Event Description
Want to know more about your rights when interacting with police? Join the UBC Black Law Student Association this Black History Month on Thursday, February 8th, 2024, from 4-5:30 pm for the "Know Your Rights" event, hosted in room 104 at the Peter A. Allard School of law.
This initiative, hosted by the UBC Black Law Students Association, aims to equip students with essential legal knowledge for interactions with law enforcement. The event includes a presentation by Latoya Harrell of the BC Civil Liberty Association on rights one has during search and seizures, arrest, being pulled over, and how to report police officers. After the presentation participants will be welcome to ask questions regarding their legal rights when interacting with police.
In addition to valuable insights on how to navigate interactions with police confidently, we'll be providing refreshments and pizza to support a positive experience for participants.
