Gül Üstün is a Professor at Marmara University Faculty of Law in Istanbul, Turkey. She has served as the Head of the Department of Public Law at the Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences, and the Head of the Department of Administrative Law at Marmara University Faculty ofLaw. Her areas of expertise are in administrative law, urban transformation, sustainability and environmental law, regulatory compliance, and alternative dispute resolution. She is an active member of the Istanbul Bar Association. While visiting the Allard School of Law, Gül is researching city planning in both Canada and in other jurisdictions. Her research seeks to find a balance between development, sustainability and the rights of local people and communities.
