Peter A Allard School of Law

Careers Workshop: The Graduate Student Articling Job Search

Event Description

This session is exclusively for graduate students who are completing the NCA process and want to practice law in Canada. You will learn how to search for an articling student job, which is a 1-year paid position with a legal employer that is required by the Law Society in order to become a lawyer. Your articling job begins after you complete your NCA requirements, but the recruitment timeline for articling positions varies by employers and is based on business needs. Articling recruitment can start as early as 1 year in advance of your desired start date, but many employers do not recruit their articling students until 1 month before they are needed. Come learn all of the tips and tricks for finding an articling job – and what you actually do as an articling student – from your career advisor Jenn Lau! This session will be recorded and posted on ACE for students who cannot attend in-person.
