Peter A Allard School of Law

Allard Alumni Holiday Wine Tasting

Join us at 5:00pm on Thursday, December 10 for a virtual journey to SpearHead Wines, located in British Columbia’s beautiful Okanagan Valley. Owned by Allard School of Law alumnus Bill Knutson, QC (LLB ’77), SpearHead Winery has made its mark as a Pinot Noir specialist and for this event we will be tasting their 2018 Saddle Block Pinot Noir as well as their 2019 Pinot Gris. We’ll discuss how the “cool climate” growing conditions in this pocket of the world are ideal for these kinds of grapes and how SpearHead makes “vineyard designated” wines so that we can experience the “sense of place” from which these drops come.

Our wine journey leader will be Tania Tomaszewska (TT Wine Counsel), who is also an alumna of the Allard School of Law (LLB ‘95). A banking lawyer turned Wine Professional, Tania specializes in “wine journey design”. In addition to her law degree, Tania has a BA and a MPhil; she is WSET Certified (Level 3) and has completed the Wine Executive Program at the University of California, Davis. (Learn more about Tania below.) Tania has also invited Mr. Knutson, a practicing lawyer and self-proclaimed 'gentleman farmer', to briefly join the conversation.

To register, please email us at alumni@allard.ubc.ca.

Should you wish to taste the two wines that Tania will be exploring, you have the option to order them directly from the winery and have them delivered to your door prior to the event.  The “all in” price for the wine duo is $84.45 (for delivery in British Columbia). Shipping rates will vary for other locations.  Please note that the cut-off date for ordering wine is Thursday, December 3rd, 2020.

ORDER SPEARHEAD WINES

Once you have registered, Tania will be sending some pairing ideas, namely what sorts of grazing bites and dinner items would go nicely with the wines she will be discussing.  We do hope that you will join us for this special alumni holiday event!

(Please note that registration for this event is free, but only a limited number of spots are available.  Purchasing the selected wine is not required to participate in this event.)
