A2J: New Research On Everyday Legal Needs in BC During Covid-19

Co-hosted by the University of Victoria Faculty of Law & Peter A. Allard School of Law

Mark Benton Q.C., CEO of the Legal Services Society, discusses the results of Legal Aid BC’s 2020 survey on Everyday Legal Needs. LABC runs the survey every 5 years (so far in 2008, 2013 and 2018), but chose to run 2020 survey to help gauge the effect that COVID-19 is having on the legal problems of low-income British Columbians. As the justice system shifts towards making more evidence-based decisions, this is cutting edge research that can guide legal service providers on what legal work is needed now.
