19th Annual Environmental Law Negotiation Competition

Event Description

The Environmental Law Group is excited to announce our 19th annual UBC Law Environmental Negotiation Competition! The event will take place at Allard Hall on UBC’s Vancouver Campus on Friday, November 17th starting at 5:00pm.

This is a fun event that involves teams of two students each participating in a tripartite negotiation on an environmental or natural resource law topic. Teams consist of law students from all years of study at UVIC, TRU, and UBC. The negotiations will be judged by a diverse group of practicing lawyers who will be able to provide feedback after the negotiation. This is a great event to try out some practical advocacy skills and network with different lawyers in this field.
Preparation is minimal – participants will receive the problem one week before the negotiation - and does not involve outside research. All you need is a teammate. The top teams will go on to compete for glory and prizes in a final round that everyone watches. The event includes a reception where dinner will be provided.

To sign up, please fill out the Google Form from the link below no later than 6pm on November 3rd. Space is limited, so please apply early! If you don’t have a partner, fill out the form anyway and we will try to pair you up.

Thank you to Lawson Lundell LLP for sponsoring the 19th Annual UBC Law Environmental Negotiation Competition!
