Peter A Allard School of Law

Ontario Law Practice Program – Information Session

Event Description

The Law Practice Program (LPP) at Toronto Metropolitan University (Formerly Ryerson University) is the first of its kind in Ontario. Innovative, rigorous and demanding, the eight-month LPP is an approved pathway to lawyer licensing in Ontario, offering a 4 month simulated, virtual training program with a 4 month full-time hands-on work term. Now in its 11th year with over 2500 alumni, the LPP is an alternative to securing an articling student position, and is equivalent to articling. The focus is on developing the skills and competencies future lawyers need for success.

The LPP program staff will deliver this Zoom webinar exclusively for Allard Law graduate and JD students. Attend this webinar to learn more about the program, its expectations, and the success of current and past candidates.

Students who are interested in using the LPP as their pathway to being called to the bar in Ontario in 2026 must register with the Law Society of Ontario by July 15, 2025 and with the TMU LPP by July 19, 2025. NCA students must have completed and passed all NCA requirements and filed with the LSO a Certificate of Qualification before the LPP begins in August 2025. Candidates must also be eligible to study and work in Ontario. In order to participate in the program and apply for work experience opportunities, you must also be eligible to work in Canada.
