For this year's Transgender Day of Visibility, Trallard and UBC OutLaws are honoured to host a lunch event at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. All students are welcome! Learn about trans human rights in the law and about how to practice effective allyship with the trans community.
Our speaker, Adrienne Smith (they/them/iel), is a transgender human rights activist and social justice lawyer. They will provide a brief overview of contemporary transgender human rights issues in Canada. This informal event will also provide students with the opportunity to learn practical tips for advancing gender equity as lawyers (and humans!).
Location: Room 111, Allard Hall, 1822 East Mall.
Time: March 27 (Wednesday) @ 12:30pm - 1:50pm.
Food: A lunch platter will be provided for each registered attendee. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated.
Trallard and UBC OutLaws are student groups at the Peter A. Trallard (Trans @ Allard) is a club created to provide support and advocacy by and on behalf of transgender, intersex, two-spirit, gender nonconforming and nonbinary students. Membership in Trallard is private and confidential. UBC OutLaws is a 2SLGBTQIA+ student group and welcomes students of all gender identities and sexual orientations to join our group and participate in our events, and we value the continued support of our allies.
