Lawyer Wellbeing Mentors

Legal professionals struggle with mental health and wellbeing issues more than the general population. Law students are aware of these statistics and worry about the impact of mental health on their studies and future careers. Mental health stigma is real. Combating stigma comes through positive, accepting conversation and normalization with trusted professionals.

Therefore, Allard Student Wellbeing has launched the Lawyer Wellbeing Mentor Program. This initiative is aimed at asking lawyers who have navigated their way through their own mental health or wellbeing challenge, to recognize that they are in a perfect position to effect change in the legal profession by raising awareness. Law students value information delivered by lawyers.

There are over 20 mentors in this program. Over 50 matches with Allard students have been made.

If you would like more information or take part please contact the Student Wellbeing Counsellor at wellbeing@allard.ubc.ca.
