  • Bruce MacDougall

    Professor

    Bruce MacDougall was called to the Bar of B.C. in 1990. Professor MacDougall joined the Allard School of Law as Assistant Professor in 1988. He was Associate Professor from 1996-2002. He has been Professor of Law since 2002. Professor MacDougall studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and served as Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada for Mr. Justice Gerald Le Dain from 1986-87. He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Florida, Gainesville in 1993, and Distinguished Research Fellow at King's College, London, in 2001.

  • James MacIntyre, KC

  • Johnny Mack

    Assistant Professor
    Co-Academic Director, Indigenous Legal Studies

    Professor Johnny Mack is from the Toquaht Nation (Nuu-chah-nulth) and is Assistant Professor at UBC Allard School of Law. From 2014-2018 he was jointly appointed across First Nations and Indigenous Studies and Allard Law at UBC. His research investigates the legal relationship between Indigenous and settler peoples in contemporary settler states, particularly Canada, as well as Indigenous constitutionalism, subjectivity, critical theory, and legal pluralism.

  • Lisa Martz

    Lisa is an experienced litigation lawyer who has practised in Vancouver for more than 25 years. She has acted as counsel on behalf of the Province of B.C., companies both large and small, and many individuals.

  • Freshta Masomi

    Research Associate

    Freshta has a rich background in Islamic Law, criminal law, and criminology. She earned her undergraduate degree from Kabul University and her master’s in criminal law and criminology from Azad Islamic University of Iran in Kabul. She served as a judge in Kabul's Family Court 2013 - 2021, handled complex family cases and worked as a prosecutor protecting children's rights.

  • Shigenori Matsui

    Professor

    Professor Shigenori Matsui joined the Allard School of Law in January 2006 as Director of Japanese Legal Studies. Professor Matsui comes to UBC from Osaka University Law School where he worked as associate professor from April 1983 to March 1994; and as full professor from April 1994 to December 2005.  He worked for Osaka University, Faculty of Law, until he joined the newly established law school in 2004.

  • Albert McClean

    Professor Emeritus

    Albert McClean has been Professor of Law since 1968. Professor McClean served as Dean of the Allard School of Law from 1971-76 and was Associate Vice-President, Academic, of the University of British Columbia from 1985 to 1995. He joined the Faculty of Law in 1960 as Lecturer and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1962 and Associate Professor in 1966.

    HART Tech Developer

    Jack received his BSc from the University of British Columbia.  He is responsible for development on the Housing Assessment Resource Tools (HART) project.  The HART project develops standardized, replicable and equity-focused tools, along with associated public information and training, to improve the quality of housing supply decision-making at all levels of government across Canada.
