Event Description
Join us for a roundtable conversation on the challenges, possibilities, and futures of queer and trans scholarship, art, politics, and activism. Bringing together scholars and artists Jules Gill-Peterson, Billy-Ray Belcourt, Lieks Hettinga, and Xaytun Ennasr, the conversation will reflect on queer and trans studies, then and now: What sustains our work and collective struggles? What feels most urgent and enlivening in this moment? And what futures might we imagine and build together?
Hosted by QTC co-leads Jasbir Puar and Ervin Malakaj, this launch marks the beginning of a new space at UBC for interdisciplinary collaboration among scholars, artists, students, and community members committed to queer and trans studies and radical praxis.
The panel discussion will be followed by a light reception. The event is free and open to the UBC community and the public.
