Event Description
In this keynote, Dr. Ananya Roy will explore the deep and often invisible inter-relationships between racialized global markets and consumerism, and the conditions that perpetuate poverty worldwide. Drawing on her acclaimed research, Dr. Roy examines how the wealth of the global north is structurally tied to the marginalization of the global south and how these dynamics play out not only at the international scale, but also within the power structures of our own cities and urban spaces. This is a talk about accountability, about seeing what has been made invisible, and about reimagining what’s possible when we commit to justice.
This event is presented in partnership with the Peter A. Allard School of Law and the Centre for Feminist Legal Studies.
