Event Description
This session is exclusively for graduate law students at Allard.
While many Canadian legal employers hire their articling student employees through a job posting or a structured recruitment process, an equally large number of legal employers find their articling student (and fill other employee positions at their organization) through word of mouth (often after being approached by a prospective articling student candidate or job applicant). How do you tap into these unposted articling job opportunities as a graduate student and/or NCA candidate? What does it mean to network in Canada? Why is networking beneficial to your career development? How do you transform all of this “small talk” at networking events and coffee chats into meaningful connections? Should you still be networking even if you are targeting large employers who only hire through structured recruitment processes (yes!).
Hear from your career advisor Jenn Lau on why busy legal employers hire through word of mouth, the power of networking, and how to put your best foot forward when using this type of job search strategy and while networking in the Canadian legal industry.
