Event Description
Singapore has become a popular wealth hub in Asia. In recent years, in addition to disputes concerning intergenerational wealth transfers within Singapore families, the Singapore courts have also heard numerous family wealth disputes with cross-border elements. These disputes provided an opportunity for Singapore to clarify and develop its trust law, with greater attention paid to issues of structural abuse and trustee accountability. This seminar will examine recent Singapore case law on trust structures, trustee obligations (including the newly developed fiduciary duty to act in good faith), and general issues arising in family trust disputes. It will also offer reflections on how these developments will impact trust planning and practice.
*The event is eligible for 1.25 hours of Law Society of British Columbia CPD credit.
