Peter A Allard School of Law

The 2026 bGuiled Debate Finals

The 2026 Finals Maxim: “The Law Does Not Compel The Impossible (Lex Non Olet Ad Impossibilia)”

  • Do you enjoy joy?
  • Comedy?
  • Debating (but like, in a fun way)?
  • Tears of laughter?
  • Incisive and hilarious commentary on the law and legal profession?
  • Impressively executed self-deprecating humour?
  • Making fun of yourselves, your colleagues, your friends, and your “friends” [said with the passive-aggressive intonation of an angry lawyer in Chambers]?

Lucky you! You are cordially invited to attend the 2026 bGuiled Debate Finals – where the four finalists compete for the ultimate prize: acknowledgement from peers that they can be funny, at least sometimes.

Judged by real Judges! And a guy named Greg. Participants include two students currently attending Allard and two Allard Alumni. This is a great opportunity for students to share some laughs with lawyers and get to know the community.

Tickets are $20 each for the Try-Outs, or $10 for current students (with any form of valid student ID).
